April 1st. setting.. *hatching*| need a buddy.

The air sac develops at the fat end of the egg. After a week or so you are able to see it. If there isn't one the egg is not fertile. I label all my eggs before they go in, A, B, C or 1,2,3 ect on one side and an x on the other. I have a note pad and write the number/letters in a line going down the papper. When I candle them I write down on a peice of of paper good vein, no, can't see yet. This way I only check the ones I can't tell yet or are no good. I throw out on day 10 unless I can't see in them because they are too dark. I Hand turn them 3x a day. I don't have a turner :-(

I just turned the flash off, and took the pic one handed. I have a pretty decent camera, because I use it alot for work. I had a couple that turned out blurry, but deleted those.

I just have a point and shoot Nikon but my photo's were almost all fuzzy. I will have to mess with it.

I have been having temp issues since late last night. I have not been able to get in LG to stablize. I am running on 4 hours of sleep right now. I thought I had mastered the knob on the LG but if I hardly touched it my temp would go to 103 and then down to 97. So for the last 10 hours I have been adjusting it over and over again. I just moved the sensor to see if that would help. Plus my thremometers are not reading different after 4 days of bein insync. They are about a degree off.

15-16 more days.......I just gotta remind myself its really not that long.

I run a cannon powershot. Is a point and shoot type camera.

the biggest thing to remember when taking pics in the dark without a flash, is that the shutter speed is going to slow down to allow more light in. You have to hold extremely still when taking the pic, or it will be blurry every time.

Maybe I can adjust the shutter speed? Also I can hold nothing still so maybe in a few days when I candle again I can set it on a 10 sec timer and sit it on a table so movement wont be a factor. I am not a steady hand for sure!

I couldn't help myself. I have 14 welsummer eggs (dark/speckled/shipped) and 2 green EE eggs that were in the fridge for at least a day. I just candled the EE eggs. The first one I did has VEINS and an eye!!!!

The second one does not.

I'm not even trying the welsummer eggs right now. I am on day 4 and I know I shouldn't candle them this early... but I was curious.

I tried to get pictures, but you cannot see the veins in the one with veins so I am not posting that photo.

My name is Jackie and I am addicted to incubating.

Welcome Jackie! Ha ha ha. So you incubated eggs you had in the fridge? Am I understading the correctly? Congrats on the veins and eye! I have a couple (Out of 26) with veins and Eye too!!!!!

Umm.. no. I bought a dozen welsummer eggs from MI and I have a friend who has chickens locally. You hear about how shipped eggs are harder to hatch so I wanted a couple 'local' eggs to hatch along with the shipped ones. I went over there to visit with the intention of getting some that were laid in the nest boxes but they had none, so I had to go with two of the green eggs that her hubby had put in the fridge. I actually do not know if they were in the fridge for a day... but they could have been. Figured I didn't have anything to lose! So, I have two EE eggs in the bator with my welsummers. I think a welsummer 'yolk' looks like my green yolk with veins, I just cannot see the veins. I believe my Welsummer eggs are very porous.
