April 2017 chicks, who will lay first contest...

It's official!!!! Feel like Tom hanks in castaway. Someone is laying out of the 8 babies. 27w+ . Other eggs are from BO and WO over 2yo (freezer camp when other 8 are laying).

And maybe this huge white one is from a new layer, but I don't have any white layers at all in my flock. Hmm. Looks lighter than all the others of recent.

I got two of these this week also. I have noticed that after i give the ladies meat scraps all of their eggs are bigger and i get one or two more the next day or the day after that. They get layer feed but now we wonderin if maybe an all flock like turkey feed might be more to their likin.

I give all of mine Purina flock raiser. It's 20% protein. Chicks and roosters and other species can have it too. I put out oyster shell free choice, and never have a soft shell. However, jumbo double eggs are a bit scary. I'm concerned that could cause vent prolapse, tho it has never happened to my girls. I don't think food, tho, causes these eggs, it's more likely an immature system ....
Anyway they like this feed so much, they don't waste it. If any gets spilled, they eat it off the floor. I get it as crumbles.

Hahaha i hope so. Cause she surely did count them ten times and again. But you can bet yer bottom dollar that she knew exactly how many blueberries were in there..... cause she counted those as they went in her mouth.

Welp. I thought hubby was buyin an all flock until a conversation the other day About how when i put out meat scraps for them i got more eggs. And he informed me it was a layer. Ours are all old enough for the layer. But i think i am gonna have him buy the game bird for everyone. It is twenty or twenty two protein i think.
