April 2017 chicks, who will lay first contest...

Pics
I have 7 that hatched right at the first of April:
2 Isa Browns (or generic sexlink maybe inaccurately named Isa) - 1 is already laying
2 Black Marans
2 EEs
1 White Leghorn

I am very curious to know the timing for when all these types will start to lay eggs. The one Isa has been laying daily for over a week now, and nobody else even seems close...
I have 8 hens that are about a week older than that. I think 2 of my 3 ISA are laying and I'm pretty sure both of my black sex link are laying also.

Two barred rocks and a RIR that look like they are about ready. You should start seeing more eggs soon is my guess.

I put fake eggs and straw in 2 of the nest boxes in my coop late yesterday afternoon. The girls kinda freaked out with "something new" in their coop. They didn't want to go to bed last night with those new things. These chickens are goofy

I've got April chicks. Got them at TSC on 4/26, so likely a few days older than that. Honestly though, I'll probably never know when they all start laying. They are in with 4 older hens who already lay. I guess the day I get 9 from 9 I'll know that all of my pullets have started. Who knows when that will be

FREELOADERS!!!! Alls we still gots is stinkin freeloaders. :barnie:lau:lau:lau.

Someone has been checkin out the nest boxes though. :clap.someone even rooted round long enough for a pullet sized divit to be left in there. And a few are doin a semi squat when i go to touch them. And these wily cockrels are givin a few of the girls a run for their money. :he Every.single.night.come.bedtime.:sick.

And! Does anyone else's dumb cockrels put their girls to be startin bout 4:30 in the afternoon? Cause by 5:30 if any girl wants to flaunt her stuffs if had BETTER be in that coop peoples! In.that.coop! Cause the dumb boys will have at em if they out past cerfews. :pop:oops:. Oye!

mine are 18 weeks now. my barred rock has nice red comb, wattles and ears; Ethel the Easter egger has a nice red pea comb and her sister Lucy has a nice red cushion comb. The others are pink and smaller combed still. still no eggs...

Mine turned 17 weeks today. One white leghorn has a nice sized comb but her body is much smaller than her sister. The others are still smallish pink combs but their bodies have grown larger STILL NO EGGS....freeloaders!

:lau:lauJust a funny today. The end of last week i put ceramic eggs in the nest box. Fast forward to last night. Youngest son (20) went out with hubby to close up the coop. He doesn't usually go in there but last night he did cause he wants some eggs already.
He comes back in the house sayin....
ma you and dad are assholes!

Ok i will play why are we assholes child?

Welp. I went with dad to put YOUR freeloadin girls to bed and there were TWO EGGS in the nest box! And you know WHAT?!?!!?!!! As his hand are all flailin round him. Done took hos hat off his noggin and runnin his hands through his hair. (Mind you this manchild is 6ft 3in and 230lbs k....)They were.not.real.eggs!!!! NO EGGS MA! NONE! NADA! I might have me a cornish hen before long do those freeloadin bug eatin machines not give me any eggs!

Me all prim and proper tryin hard not to bust a gut laughin at him. Oh. Yes child i put those in there a week ago cause the girls were checkin out the nest box.

But MA! NO EGGS! Dumb FAKE eggs?!?!?!!! You already HAVE one freeloadin turkey hen who only lays every other day and she looks mighty tasty! I ain't had no turkey since easter ma. The other hen gives her egg a day why can myrtle the every other day freeloader not give you an egg a day too. He is still flailin arms and wavin his hat.

Then i reminded him that ethyl hasn't been givin eggs regularly this week either most likely cause we moved the poults in the biggs pen and oh the tirade started again. Oh my this manchild keels me some days.

:lau:lau:lau

"Children" are a RIOT !
Mine are like 'why you want Bee's? They are bad, they sting !" That from my 25 year old last year when I was talking about beekeeping. :smack

When we had Chickens before they were like Ahh they are so cute but I want nothing to do with them, not cleaning, nothing...... but the eggs are ok.
And then when I had to get rid of them they all cried :hmm

Well got my first egg from the April chicks! It's the tiny one on the left! Sue the leghorn laid this today. No squatting and her comb only grew and reddened last week! She just turned 17 weeks yesterday :celebrate

Just found this thread! I have 6 pullets that were hatched April 1, we picked them up at the hatchery. Four brown leghorns, a Silver Sebright, and a Mille Fleur D'Uccle ..... no one laying yet, but those leghorns' combs/wattles are bright red! However, the bantams will probably slow down the average.....
