April 2017 chicks, who will lay first contest...

Pics
Ostrich's first 3 or so were pale pinky-brown like the one on the right in the photo, with a faint greenish tinge, a bit darker than the rest of the egg, at the small end. Pompadour's (right egg) has that marking too. I know they were Ostrich's eggs because I spend time with the chooks in the morning, I know who's laying, and I kept a close eye on Ostrich in particular because I was waiting for her to start.

Yay 3/4 :wee

I got two of these this week also. I have noticed that after i give the ladies meat scraps all of their eggs are bigger and i get one or two more the next day or the day after that. They get layer feed but now we wonderin if maybe an all flock like turkey feed might be more to their likin.

View attachment 1157675 Miss Ostrich the araucana (my avatar) has finally laid a proper blue egg after a few practice brown ones. Age: 25 weeks.
Pompadour the araucana (same age) laid a tiny brown egg yesterday.
Nothing from their sister Doris.
Boy are they slow starters!

I didn't know that blue egg layers could lay brown & then change colors later!
Does that happen often?

My EE started laying with her blue eggs
Big suckers too - 45gm from the start & now 55gm every day
