April 2020 Hatch-A-Long! All are welcome!

GUYS, I feel so dumb 🤦‍♀️. I have had a hard time keeping track of days this time around and I thought it was D16, but it's actually D19. I went to go lockdown, thinking I was even early to lockdown, and there are THREE external pips in there and more eggs wiggling and peeping. I stopped turning them a couple days ago, but hadn't taken the turner out or added shelf liner. Sorry little chickies! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
I have done that before. I marked the wrong week on the calendar and one day I went out and heard peeping from the incubator. Several of the chicks had hatched. My incubator is a cabinet incubator. I found several chicks in the bottom and a few in the tray. I took out the ones that had hatched and put the rest of the eggs pipped and zipping in the hatcher and misted them with warm water to bring up the humidity a little quicker and all was well. Good luck and have fun...

But mine have been upright in an egg turner for the past 18 days so would an egg carton hatch be better?

and what is everyones thoughts on pulling out chicks as they hatch, with a quick open close? I'd like to Mose them to the brooder- I have 40 chicks coming- its going to be busy! humidity is not a problem here in Ontario..my bator has been bone dry and still been on 48% humidity the whole time.
Does anyone do this? Put new chicks in brooder to warm up and dry out?
I take mine out. I have a mister ready and when I take the chicks out and put them in what I call my dry box before I put them in the brooder I mist the remaining eggs in the hatcher with warm water to bring up the humidity more quickly. Good luck and have fun...

Ok Houston we have some activity!!!
day 21.. last night at 10pm I had 3 eggs start piping ( I guess) seen some shells on the grill so they little buggers are trying!
one chick is making a hole at the bottom . It’s early so I’m thinking that I should just monitor it n leave it alone. Any thoughts?

I would just monitor and give it a bit more time as a pip in the correct place. I had 2 pip the small end of the egg in my Easter hatch a long eggs/Sapphire Gem eggs groups and they both hatched fine on their own.

I am SOOOO jazzed!!! Look what Brynn just hatched! :love:love:love:love:love:love:love:love (That's Finn, the proud papa, being nuzzled by Baby Boy.)
