April 2020 Hatch-A-Long! All are welcome!

Baby crossbeak is out. I am even less sure about her chances as she has one very large unusual eye and no eye on the other side. She appears normal other than the abnormalities on the face. Pic attached. Thoughts?
That's sad. Did she hatch on her own or did you help? I've never had one quite like that but I did have some eye issues my second hatch. It was temperature related. I think too hot but it's been awhile. Basically the didn't develop any eyes and quite around day 18.

Crossbeak is genetic I believe. Which points the finger at the breeders flock. Could the chick be inbred?

We are hopefully going to finish some of our coop today. I want to get the roosters to sleep in it. They like sleeping on the fencing 😂
The babies I moved into my big coop are still sleeping perched on the chicken wire that was on top of the separate pen I made them 😂 I made a bigger perch for them today and they hate it hahaha. Must be too tall. Ungrateful haha. But it gives them a bit more floor room. They’re being locked in for a few days because some of the girls have been hiding their eggs somewhere. I haven’t found them in any of the normal hiding spots. 😓

Chickens are ridiculous sometimes 😂 mine weren't using the new nesting box we got them and after a month someone finally figured it out.

Same ebay seller as discussed shipping issues. This hatch has been very disappointing from the beginning. Happy news is, I'm wrapping it up and moving on. Can't win them all, right?

I did hatch very well from my own flock this month, which has been a ton of fun, so there's that. Might just stick with that for a bit.

I've bought a lot of eggs off eBay too. It's a mixed bag but I've learned something each time.

Thanks to the February hatch a long I discovered the Facebook hatching eggs groups. My last shipped eggs were from there.

I have 34 eggs in the incubator... They are a mix of Crested Cream Legbar, Isbar, Crested Cream Legbar X Isbar, and Crested Cream Legbar X Black Copper Marans.

They should hatch the last day of April!!!

If you don’t mind I would love an update/pics of your crosses as I have similar hatches going and would love to compare birds. I’ll send a conversation message in case that’s easier. Thanks and hope the hatch is going well!!
