April 2020 Hatch-A-Long! All are welcome!

Yes it is a good price

I charge 4 dollars for a barnyard chick and add 1 dollar a week that I raise it. A six week old chick would be 10.
I had my POL pullets at $7. Maybe I should raise it, but they're usually pullets I don't want to keep due to coloring. I'm picky. I don't want anymore white birds.

Thanks so much for the advice! It is greatly appreciated! The extra dollar a week is an awesome idea and easy to keep track of!
If you think about it, it is better for the customer to let me get the chick to fully feathered. I have everything that is needed, plus the experience. It will cost them way more to setup everything to brood chicks. (Just giving you my sales pitch there. :celebrate ). Have fun

I just cross my chickens and hope for the best. I have all purebred for my layers so I always get really nice offspring from them because I cross breeds. I don't do purebred chicks, I prefer barnyard where you can get many different colors.

I try not to get more than one of the same breed for my layers so that I don't get them mixed up. All of my layers have names 😂 I can pet them all and pick them all up, they're definitely pet's that lay eggs and make me offspring lol

I like to get breeds of chickens in pairs. LOL! 2 pullets of each breed if I can (layers only). The only ones I have went more than that on are the EE's....But I do have 2 EE's with muffs and 2 EE's without muffs and 1 white with gold EE...so I can technically say I am still getting pairs right. :gig

I have only a pair of Deathlayers, a pair of Cochins, and a pair of red sex links. I can tell them all apart though. The others are all different breeds. I'm adding crosses now to my flock to get more variety, but I'm picky about those and the coloring. I'm looking for unique coloring.

I just sold 12 straight run barnyard chicks for $5/each 😳. Priced a little high because I need to "pay off" the incubator I needed to purchase in order to fill the order. The buyer agreed that it was a fair price. I think a lot depends on your area!

In the future I will probably sell barnyard chicks for less ($3) and purebred or "designer" (OE, etc.) for $5 as day olds. An additional dollar per week is a good method, too.
