April 2020 Hatch-A-Long! All are welcome!

Pics
Meet my first chick that has ever lived when I’ve assisted without them pipping externally. This is one of the ones I even had to pip for internally. It was in a very odd position. It’s a bit weak and wobbly but drank some nutri-drench willingly so I’m hopeful.

:celebrate :love :yesss::yesss::yesss: That's awesome!!!! Great job! Even if you can't save them all it's so worth it for the ones you do save in my opinion!!

Another 7 babies hatched out yesterday. All are doing well. One was the little Rent-a-Chick egg. 3 Chocolate Mottled and three of my babies. I ended up with a baby that's almost white with a very small mauve patch on her back. Wondering if she is splash. Can you get splash from Chocolate rooster over blue and lavender hens?

It looks like my frizzle fathered at least two of the chicks from my last hatch! The third one is definitely a wyandotte cross, and the fourth looks like it has smooth feathers, but it also doesn't look like it has wyandotte features, so it maybe just didnt get the frizzle gene.

Here are the frizzles! Theh hatched in the tail end of the March HAL. It is hard to tell on the yellow chick because its feathers are JUST starting to come in, but I think I see some frizzle action!

I figured I would join the hatch a long this month. I have set my first 4 chicken eggs for a friend. I have never hatched chicken eggs before. Duck eggs yes chickens never. So this is a new adventure for me. These eggs will be hybrids/ Mixes. One will be Amercauna and Samon Ferviloli, the others we don't know which hens laid the egg as there are several brown layers in that coop.

I did a test candle tonight to see if anything might be going. It looks like there might be 3 little eggs going in his incubator.

Oh you're going to love hatching chicks. They're way easier than waterfowl! lol
