I haven't heard of them. I'll have to check them out. What specific breeds you are hoping to get from them?Well, Highland Homestead just put their eggs on sale soooooooo looks like I'm ordering more eggs![]()
Visit their website, highlandhomesteadchickens.comHow do you order their eggs?
I'm specifically interested in their Lav. Ameraucanas, but their variety of green egg layers is tempting as well.I haven't heard of them. I'll have to check them out. What specific breeds you are hoping to get from them?
Welcome! I'm not super experienced, but in my first hatch, all of the eggs that were completely clear were not fertilized. But if they were scrambled or had similar issues then they probably wouldn't have any noticeable development, either. I think if you crack them open when you remove them you should be able to tell with reasonable certainty. When I cracked my clear eggs from my first hatch, the yolk was intact but there was no development nor did I notice a blastodisc, leading me to conclude the eggs were not fertilized. If they scrambled during shipping I would think the yolk would be broken before you crack the egg, giving it the look of a scrambled egg before cooking.Hi everyone! Joining the April hatch along w/ an anticipated hatch date of 4/2. Set 18 shipped eggs (14 silkies + 4 silver laced polish) and as of today had 8 progressing, with 2 or 3 others possibly progressing. Not the numbers I was hoping for but this is my first experience with both shipped eggs and silkies! So I'm grateful and humbled by the experience so far.
Question about fertility- if the eggs are completely clear without ever developing any veining, does that indicate they're infertile? Or could it have been an issue with shipping? All eggs were in great shape with in tact air-cells on arrival.
BEST WISHES FOR ALL WHO ARE HATCHING!
