Still waiting for 4 more to hatch. But these 2 are out.

I'm hand turning my incubator eggs so did another candle. 8 out of 8 are developing

Well the eggs are in! I set 24 Swedish Flower eggs from my own flock. My beautiful rooster that I had last year died, and the boy I have now is pretty meh, so hopefully I will hatch a better looking guy this year.

All the chicks have yellow legs. I'm confused. Sussex have white legs, Dominiques have yellow legs.


The eggs supposedly came from the Sussex, had blue streaks on their shells from marking the Sussex's vents. Two of the chicks have Sussex coloring, but they have Dominique legs.


Do any of you know the name of the person here at BYC, who understands genetics?

Beautiful girl. We just picked up 10 speckled Sussex last weekend. Cannot wait to see them fully feathered.

The Speckled Sussex bantams are harder to breed to Standard, harder to find.

 

[Massachuchicks]

had a dozen eggs and 11 hatched! Four bantam cochins on 4/6 and 7 various bantams on 4/9. The staggered hatch was a success and I’m glad I was able to save the 4 bantams my broody abandoned! So excited for these fluffballs!
