so glad your girl is safe! dh called from the swap to have his helper start building for you. he started building sun. just told dh about your mishap. told him you really need your tractor.

thankyou all all who bought, sold and traded with me. had a great weekend. gypsie, I love the new avatar. shay, remember in plaistow I told you that now I would hatch a white showgirl? well, I did. lol murphies law. of course the newbie will stay with me till I see some more. looking forward to seeing everybody in merrimack.

Had a lot of fun and got a lot of sunburn, but what a great day! This has been my first chance to get online since coming home. Just two of us stayed until 3pm, me and my friend at Lily's Rabbit Hole. BUT because I stayed I managed to find a wonderful home for my "arm chicken." He went to a nice woman to be an only chicken for a little while in her beautiful new coop. She plans to get some young hens at the May swap but until then that little cockerel is going to be S-P-O-I-L-E-D!!!!

It was nice meeting even more of you guys now. Lauren, Great to see pics of the girls in their new place. They are used to my dog who is slightly afraid of them so it doesn't surprise me that they are not scared of your dog.

So, at the swap I got some yummy black raspberry jam, some chocolate cookies, 2 6 packs of hot peppers, and a gorgeous perennial from Sue!

Also Gypsy dropped off the SLWs she had hatched out for me. There were two of them. One was really terribly weak this morning so I was sure I was going to lose it. Not wanting little one #2 to be all alone I asked DH to pick up two chicks at the feed store. Ended up he had to get 6 so he brought home 6 speckled sussex pullets.

After giving little SLW #1 honey every two hours and forcing some drinking every hour, she is up on her own two feet eating like a little piggy and running around with her new friends! So it *looks* like she is going to make it AND I have 6 new chicks! You know if I had picked up 6 extra chicks at the swap DH would have had a fit and the little SLW would not have gotten sick, or would have died instead. God has been working for me today! Praise be!

If you missed Sue's wonderful perennials, look for them at Merrimack! They are mostly rare and unusual plants which make a beautiful and unique addition to any garden! You can find her by looking for the red van with the Mini Rex and Netherland Dwarf rabbits, and the plants of course!

AHHHHHHHHH!!!! I am so glad the chick pulled through ! I worried all night how she was doing.
I wonder if the heat didnt get to her? it was unruley hot saturday, not a typical April weather.
Today is lookingto be miserabley hot time to break out the huge fans for the rabbits.
yep they have the good fans and we sit in here with ceiling fans and swelter LOL. <

This is the one surviving egg that I got from chickn! I think it may be a polish? Presently outside in the mini coop, with "mom" close by keeping an eye on the 1 week old ee's as well!

I am still working on the outside run for my chicken coop, but it was SO HOT in the coop, even with all 3 windows wide open and a fan blowing. So i opened the door, and soon enough the 4 chickens were roaming around the yard, sticking to the shady areas by the house of course. And pretty soon the two silkie hens dug themselves little pits in some soft dirt and were just rolling in it!! I'm sure the cool earth felt great to them.

Once the trees leaf out, there will be afternoon shade around the coop, so it should be better in the summer. They'll also be able to go under the coop itself for shade. Today is just too hot for April! LOL
