Disclaimer: of course, this is entirely coincidental, but I have to blame Rob.
Do you recall the young hen in the nest in my post on this thread? When the joke picture was over, I didn't have a use for the piece of foil so I folded it around the bar above the nest and left it there. Now, you may not believe me, but I'm deadly serious here, not pulling your leg, I swear. That darn hen is clucking her head off! Just yesterday, she spun around on a dime and did a perfect broody flare position, wings dropped outward, head down, every feather out (I call this the Weebles airplane position) and screeched when approached by one of the cockerels. Scared me when I saw it out the window because I didn't see the rooster coming for her and I thought she was warding off some predator that had gotten in my yard, was ready to run outside when I saw Deacon come toward her. Now, she's clucking and acting like she might take over a nest any time now. And she has to go to a new home in KY in three weeks.
ROB, THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! YOU sucked me into this!![]()

Funny you should say that. I have a 1/2 Jersey 1/2 bantam from my neighbor and she's been running around shrieking and puffing up for days. Well she was confused for days being from a broody breed and a non broody breed. That night she sat in that nest and that was the end of it. Hasn't left. It's not even her coop and never was. She just invited herself in and sits there. She did sit there just hours before I put the foil up.Do you recall the young hen in the nest in my post on this thread?
