Well, the truth is, we are participating in a heritage preservation project with the University of Arkansas heritage breeds of chickens. We also visited the UofA research farm in December 2013. I posted on an older April Fools thread and Nifty PMed me asked if I would help. Having the UofA photos were a perfect diversion to the truth.

Note that when I said in my post, ".... but this hen has never been broody before", I never said she was broody now, either.

I did get her to flare up messing around putting a piece of foil over her head. Delia hates to be messed with when she's on the nest, LOL.

I do hope that we don't see this all over the internet now, recommending this to get their hens to go broody.

Now, we need someone to tell us how to break up a really determined one. I never have much luck in that department.
I think this is now going to become a rural myth (as opposed to a urban myth). Folks are still being taken in by the thread despite the April Fools in the title. Yikes, I guess April fools needs to be posted more than once and in bigger letters.
