Looking at the pictures it appears that it is a top opening nest box, with the foil on the inside, reflecting down on the nest. Is this correct? All my nest boxes have doors that open into the yard. Would it work on a closed roof?

I'd like to know more about where the foil needs to be placed, it's not really clear looking at the photos. Should the foil be attached inside of the nest box to what you might call the "ceiling"? Or is it outside the nest box -- on the wall above the nest box, which would be like a wall mirror?

Also... when I see the phrase "up to 48%" I get that same sinking feeling I get when I see a Super Sale advertising "Up To 95% Off" which translates to "we have one item nobody wants that is 95% off, everything else is 5% off". So my question is, what is the TYPICAL rate of increase using the foil?

Chickens are going to be SOOOO angry if we get a beautiful spring after this terrible winter, and they have to sit inside on their nest boxes all day instead of playing in the sun.

I've been doing this for years. I've found that if you paint the foil a darker color you get the same affect but not the glare. My girls like purple.

What kind of paint do you use? It needs to stick to the foil and be non toxic.
