APRIL FOOLS HATCH, give or take a day.....who's in ??

I have 48 mixed breed bread chicken eggs in the incubator. They are due to hatch on April 5th. I am going to candle them tonight and see if anything is going on. this is my 2nd time ever hatching eggs. I did 30 last spring and only got 12 to hatch. But I did alot of things wrong that i found out about too late. So hoping I have a better out come this hatch.

I'm really excited -- the bluest of my EE eggs arrived with a hairline crack in it, but I put some candle wax over the crack and hoped for the best. Just candled it again with my daughter and it's definitely developing! I only waxed the big end so I'm hopeful that it will pip with no problems. I'm hopeful for a pullet that lays eggs as blue as that one!

I have to admit I did not read all the post....... BUT...... I do have eggs that should start hatching on the 31st. I think I have around 45 eggs. I did brake one this morning....... ugh. No way to save it. I was not happy about that. I have all kinds of eggs in the bator from....... whoosh, bantams, Lt. Brahmas, RIR, NHR, all crosses with either a FBCM or a RIR rooster and some Blue maran x with FBCM rooster. I also have some indian runner duck eggs in there too. Oh yeah, some cochins as well. It should be interesting. I've never combined eggs like this before. It should be fun. I even have a broody FBCM hen sitting on a bunch of eggs. I do have one problem with that. The other hens are laying eggs on top of her adding to her clutch.

I am excited, 3-4 of the remaining eggs are from my two favorite birds.

Splash and Marion (I got Marion several months ago from a byc member known for her Rocks, she was too light for her breeding pen)

Wowee!!!

Just think: If 95 percent of these hatch, we'll be adding 1250+ chicks to the world. All that fuzzy butt cuteness! If we could get all the leaders of the world to hatch chickens, everyone would be so much happier!

I am on day 12, and I've not candled my eggs since day 5. I am going strictly on faith that my bator is working properly and my eggs are fertilized, I figure the less interruption for me the better.

I am going to have so many questions two days before lockdown though.

who all is using egg cartons come hatch time? are hatch rates better? and eggs must be on their sides correct?

Candled last night 20 out of the 26 eggs are developing which is 11 silver duckwing leghorn and 9 cuckoo marans
