Okay I will do it when I get home tonight. Yay! And I'm going to ask a dumb question because I'm a newbie. Can you candle goose eggs the same way you candle chickens and ducks?

I want to say Hi to all those who have joined the last week or so..replys are coming fast ..i read them all but hard to greet every one and say Hi sure join up!!!

That said 29. .... that is all so fascinating..you must be brave in there even with them eating! Too mu ch bird for me!!
And alnost 4 lb babies ...whew!!What do the babies eat?

That burst yolk. could the egg have been frozen maybe thawed?Just a thought

DEB .You Can easily put a computer fan in that still air.12 volt...really really simple .$8 for the computer fan $1 for a used plug at goodwill..and 2 blue wire nuts..I did this 2 weeks ago with mlne and i never had done it before.Go on youtube to Rush Lane Poultrys videos He has a few on buildng your own bator but.One is just wiring an incubator and he gives easy Great instructions close up pictures of what hes doingTells exactly what you need to buy and where...Hes the best on there..Was so simple just twisting wires together ..your done
Save you$ 10 or more.as all the incubator fan kit is is a computer fan. ive put in both same Exact fan..seems like i had to splice wires too but not sure now.Anyway couldnt be easier

I am so excited today !!!
Had purchased these catdance silky eggs from Karen Larson state of Washington traveled a couple cold days plus a plane ride.... poor eggs ..To south Mo..I kept 3 to try...which didnt do a thing and gave 15 to a friend with a cabinet incubator to hatch for me..was really worried Id get zero but my friend told me 7 are doing fine day 9!
! I could not be more t hrilled!!

Also My EE and silky eggs are due to hatch tomorrow. The incubator has been right on so fingers.....im not ready at all!

Wow I have just left for one day and this thing is going crazy lol, hey everyone!!

Just candled one of my broodys five (frizzle pekin x brown leghorn) eggs and saw loads of veins and a really active embryo. Super surprised because I didnt expect anything as I thought the little cockerel might not have been able to get the job done with the leghorn.

Guess size really doesn't matter ;) ;)

Where do you guys all get your eggs? Id like to have a greater diversity with our birds and im having a hard time finding reasonably priced eggs. :/

That and it looks like the eggs we gotfrom the neighbor were too cold after all and our roo was lazy and only a few eggs are fertile. :(

Viola....sounds realy good
Carousel you too... exciting!
Seems people are getting good hatches this spring just wonder is it because it is the time of year for hatching. as opposed to say august ?

Lin i think people get their eggs many places local is best for good eggs try craigs list in your area. Lots of people selling now.Shipped try ebay and byc both.Depends on what you want too.Sometime to get the eggs you just HAVE to have you have to pay the piper or do without.and it is always a gamble...but great when it works out.

Farmergirl..i dont have any goose eggs but i dont know why you couldnt candle them.Dont think it could hurt...maybe wait until 7 days in the incubator.Chicken eggs i luje 10 days as you can be sure if you have a chick or not

By the way just looked at Learning center on hatching eggs.Well worth glancing at. Sallysunshine has done a terrific job answering about every incubating questionOf course we on the hatch threads are happy to answer anything w ccan too..
