APRIL Hatch a long ......Anyone?

The 2 that pipped yesterday have made no progress this morning, but also have 2 more pipped. That 1st one sure was in a hurry to pip, but they're in no hurry to come out! Lol 3-4 r already sold, so if all 5 hatch, I may get to keep 1 for a few days. Bad thing is, I don't have any chicks this time!!!! Idk how to teach turkeys to eat & drink!! Idk how I managed to mess up my hatch 4 weeks ago, but I sure missed SOMETHING!

3 cayugas hatched and are doing well, 2 got to pip and died, 1 hatched with full yolk sac unabsorbed so I wrapped in a wet washcloth and put it back in the incubator. It seems to be resting and hasn't injured itself further so hopefully he will absorb enough today that I can tie it off. 1 more has pipped but hasn't made any progress in about 6 hours. I'm heading to work now and will be back in about 12 hours.

None of the dominiques have pipped but it's just now day 21 for them.

My first Elliot's Pheasant eggs of the season... in lock down this morning. And the countdown begins... tick tock tick tock tick tock lol! This is my 'nemesis' hatch by the way. For whatever reason, this particular male responsible for the male side of these eggs hates my guts and has since the day I bought him. That little ball of feathers wants to kick my country butt. He has great food and water, plenty of space (both vertical and ground) and a harem of two really pretty females that throw an unreal number of eggs for this species. I hate the next 2 - 3 days on the rarer birds. I've gotten used to ostriches. They bust out like the Incredible Hulk. But the rarer pheasants still make me bite nails lol.

I am so excited to be able to hear about the hatching of these rarer species. My husband has always admired ostriches, I think it's the eyes. Here's hoping your pheasants come out healthy and with all the tenacity of their papa.

Lock-down is tomorrow- miscounted and had to recheck the math. Sheeesh!
So far we have 10 confirmed with movement, 6 that are a ? since the shells are too tough to see thru and 1 dud. I am nervous now about all the talk of unabsorbed yolk sacs and assisted hatching....first incubated hatch, so wondering if my nails and nerves will hold out.

It is very scarey the first few hatches as you will get a pip who wont come out then have to think of moralality of let do on its own or help. You will want to help too soon you feel helpless but wait 2 4hours before you try They do pip then sit often for a day before they are ready for the world.Yolk absorbs lungs get use to air veins in membrane die. .
His body is busy while he sits pipped. If he is pipped he can breath so is fineGood Luck!
