April Hatch Along

Do you have an extra hygrometer (measures humidity)? I believe you can get them at Wal-Mart. It's super crucial at this stage that you sure you are between 65-75% humidity, and often our beloved incubators are not entirely accurate. I have 1 that is, and one that is off almost 10% which is the difference between a successful and unsuccessful hatch.

Agreed! I got an Accurite brand that measures temp and humidity really well. My incubator reads the temp pretty accurate...but not the humidity

One of my eggies is rocking!! No external pips yet.
YAY!!!!!

Babies are coming!!!!

This is so exciting! I'm glad that so many people have joined in. I'm also glad that I'm not the only first time hatcher. I'm going to be candling tonight after it gets dark. Hoping to see some veins. I've been keeping humidity avg at about 30%. Hopefully I'll see good progress on the air cells too and know if I'm doing OK with that humidity. I'm super nervous. It's been hard to leave those eggs alone! But, I just keep telling myself that those developing veins and embryos are delicate and don't need me jostling them around.
Good luck!!! Hoping to see some good development

I think you own the cuteness factor at your place... of my goodness - those are incredible!! Hey, btw, this is my first time incubating some bantam d'Uccles - are they on the same time frame as LF? I could do the research, but you're right here....

Hi there! My Bantams have hatched a little early sometimes by a few days

I always plan for day 21 though

Haha thanks! :)

I stick to the 21 day schedule, but watch them closely. If I candle and see any internal pips earlier...before was on day 19...I lock them down. I'm not too great on the candling thing and it's hard for me to see in the bantam eggs...but I try..LOL!

Yep, same here. Mine usually aren't too early either. Waiting just makes lockdown shorter of they hatch a little early lol!
