April Hatch Along

Pics
Hello all popping in with a question.

I have 8 eggs left of the original 15 I put in the incubator. Most were clears. Shipped eggs so they probably got scrambled in the shipping.

This weekend I'm planning on going to a local poultry show/swap and hope to buy some local eggs.

Here's my question....

If I bring home eggs this weekend I will have 7 days until the bator is done with the current batch. Will it be ok to let the new eggs sit at room temp for a week or should I try a secondary method of keeping them warm until I can get them into the incubator?

With my fresh backyard eggs, 7 days is my maximum wait time until incubation (kept at 50 degrees, rotating them several times a day). You'll want to keep in mind the collection time prior to your purchase as well. Also, your little lockdown eggs may take an extra day or two to hatch beyond your planned due date. All that said, I have thrown new eggs in the bator with a "finishing up" group at high humidity for a day or two, and then readjusted the lower humidity once hatching was finished, and they didn't suffer from it. The only thing I didn't like was not having a chance to really sanitize the bator between them.

Would like to slip in if I can. Have a few full bators. Kinda went overboard.

50 eggs on lockdown for easter hal.
150 chicken eggs set to hatch next week.
8 turkey eggs next week.
25 turkey eggs in 2 weeks.

Set 42 turkey eggs yesterday. 30 cot quail. And 12 pheasant eggs.

If I get 10 more turkey eggs will have 50 ready to go in.

Bought a cabinet incubator at Christmas and my addiction thinks I must be full. Plus my small incubators.

Mountainbourbons: Glad to see your having a good gatch.

You make me feel so much less crazy!! :lau
I hope you have great hatches!!

I have a love/hate relationship with the whole pip/zip process. I adore watching chicks hatch, but I feel like a birth coach before that. I'm sure my family thinks I must really go a little insane at hatch time as I cluck, click, chat with, tap, say things like, "Just one good push, come on, you can do it!", and all kinds of other encouraging words for each hatchling's progress through these tedious stages! (Oh, I also say things like, "Get off your brother's egg shell, can't you see he's trying to hatch!!")

2 of my bourbon chicks. 4 total out so far. At least 6 pipped, more are pipping at a fast rate.

Luckily we don't think you are crazy (or that would make us crazy too lol)! How's your broody?

Still brooding!! She has 7 blue/green EE eggs (dad is a BCM, so hoping for female....yes, FEMALE OEs - I just need to get that out there because I have a giant box of CL roos....and that's another story for another day!)
We will move our buff girl in about 15 minutes into her new digs. I'm really hoping she likes it. It will definitely be more peaceful, but she will still be able to look out and see a lot of chicken flock shenanigans without being bugged by them.
