Haven't posted much, but have been reading!

My eggs went into lockdown last night, so I'm hoping for a Sunday/Monday hatch So EGGcited, since it's my first hatch!

my eggs should be hatching around the 6th or 7th ^_^ i cant wait! they are a mix of chicken eggs. i only set 7 because i am using my small incubator for now. One was not fertilized but the rest are doing great! cant wait to see what i get!

I started with 16. 2 were infertile, 1 died at day 7 or 8. 5 different kinds of chicken eggs, but I had a single of one kind and it was one of the infertile eggs

Laughed pretty hard at this. I bet if we find one and suggest it to admin, they'd be happy to add it to the smiley list for us.

Mine (hubby) has started to say, 'dun dun DAH!' for suspense every time I stand up and make the official sounding announcement that I must go fiddle with the eggs.

Yea, so anyways they need an icon for sitting on your hands

... or just helplessly staring into the bador! Which my Hubby cannot figure out for the life of him what I KEEP doing in here just hovering...wanting to touch, adjust, candle, but instead I pace and look, pace and look, pace and look... Hey there is another great icon idea

Ain't that the truth! The money-saving is NOT worth the additional stress. This is supposed to be FUN! I am definitely keeping an eye out for something with more bells and whistles. I've been rotating mine also around to varying placements. Keeping my fingers crossed for sure. I had a delayed shipment of a dozen Polish, so will have to interrupt the whole process to put those in tomorrow. Which means once again the heat will go whacky on me. Grrrr.

yep I am waiting on more eggs too! I think I may just get something real fancy and fully automated next time around... Then again what would I do during the wait for hatch if I'm not pacing, checking temp.s and turning eggs all day!?

yep I am waiting on more eggs too! I think I may just get something real fancy and fully automated next time around... Then again what would I do during the wait for hatch if I'm not pacing, checking temp.s and turning eggs all day!?

set eggs in both incubators I did...I check the brinsea and then pace, figet and worry about the other... Waaa Laa... two incubators with one egg so to speak

Can't believe I didn't notice this thread till today. Am setting my first eggs in one week. I hope hope hope I don't mess them up.

I am setting a dozen of my own and a dozen+ shipped mystery eggs

The ones of my own are by my backyard mix rooster with from my Australorp, Delaware and Red Star Hens






As well as my uncle's backyard mix hens

I am getting shipped eggs from BYCers, BethBug and ChooksChick they are hen's choice but I believe they will include:

Pure Dorking
Dorking Mix
Olive Egger
from Beth Bug

ChooksChick is hopefully sending

Partridge Chantecler and
some other fun mystery eggs

I have been praying for the health of the hens, for the gentleness of the postal service and mostly that I do what I am able to maximize those little bird's chances. So happy that I can share my current obsession with others...My husband is happy too

got my second bunch of button quail eggs this morning and am letting them settle till 10pm or a little later after that in they go with the other


can wait to see what hatches!

I use a small meat thermometer and balance it on a small bowl even with about the middle or a tad lower of the bator.
