April Hatch Thread--Come Join Us!

So th temp went down last night in my house so ofcourse my stink little giant did as well... I woke up at 2:30 am to find it at 97.6! I don't know how long it was at that temp, most likely an hour or so. So I had to fool around with it and watch it for an hour and a half before I was satisfied it wouldn't spike on me

it has been at 98.6-98.9 since then and I just turned it up slightly more. will they be okay after being in these temps for a few hours? Also, I am so frustrated with the thermometer/hygrometer I got at walmart. The hygrometer part seems to work fine, but the thermometer stinks! My old little zoo med thermometer reads 99.8 while the walmart one reads 102! and then it doesn't even fluctuate well or use decimal points. It spiked back and forth from 102 to 104 last night while the other one was still at 100. I hope my littleo ne is right because that is what I have been going by.
I am having the same issue with my digital. It started reading better when left in one of the corners rather than anywhere else. I have 4 thermometers and only once have they all read the same in my forced air.... makes me wonder which ones are really reading correctly .... approximately 2 days until I know!

And so the wait begins. You are in the way south, nice and warm, I am a mile and three-quarters up in the air above you and it was -4 last night. I am sooooo glad we did not lose power in this last storm or there would be no waiting on my end!

That was some CRAZY storm. I live quite a way about 30-40 milles straight east of you! My cocker spaniel was so scared I had to let him sleep with my son last night. Freaky sounding thunder here. No loss of power though. WHEW!! Glad the power stayed on
Good luck. Praying for a couple CLB babies here myself
It was quite the thunderstorm, indeed! The hail was a nice touch too. Glad that was as bad as it got though!

Good luck on your hatch too

I have been running between 100 and 102, with a couple of spikes to 104 those scared me!!!!! I am using a LG Still air and had the auto turner in too.

Mine are at 99.5 - hope all will go ok?????? I had a spike of 104 last time I did this in a home made incubator and thought mine were all dead - I did lose most of them though the egg that felt the hottest lived! That was the really late hatch day 28? Weird! But then it was a Marans! I hope I get the temps ok this time round and it feel such a long old wait! This time I have a bought bator!

Day 5
I am soooo worried about the Temp now???? I will just have to leave it be and see what happens - the gage is sitting 99.5 and doesn;t go any higher! It dips when turning as the lid is off but then goes up again fairly quick I figure it is fine as a hen going for food or a poo will leave them for a bit. Actually some of Bertha's fell out of the nest and were ice cold but I put them back under her and they hatched! mostly Boys though DRAT!

I will be praying for your hatch!!! I know what you mean it seems like it takes forever for them to hatch! The LG still air is really aggrevating as far as temp but my first hatch I had 21 out of 25 eggs hatch, and I was running same temp and humidity as I am now. I am on day 20 of this hatch and hope that I have a good hatch! I set 38 and removed 8, so 30 went into lockdown!!!! And as of right now I have 10 pips and I hear chirping and can see some rocking! Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone that they have healthy babies soon!!!! Cant wait to see more pics!!!!!

So scary! Here it will be about 85* by noon. I have to worry about the heat spikes here, my home has windows completely around the perimeter so a lot of sun to counter balance during the day but at night it is still drops quick to 50* so then it seems to have a hard time staying above 98* in the incubator... Being a chicken mama is stressful. I'm really hopeful the temp swings did not(and will not) harm them. Did you candle before lockdown?

HI,
I have had day 25 hatches........and one time a day 27.........
hoping you good luck.

I am day 22 without even a pip.
Pretty sure my eggs are toast but hoping I am wrong............
These are the eggs I spent a lot of money for,of course.
I am running an LG still air and it has been affected by the temp changes in the house.
Thanks, I hope these last ones will hatch but we will see, one is moving the others arent. Hoping your eggs surprise you and hatch!
I candeled one and it has a massive massive air cell, so I may have lost that one.
