do u know when this kind of breed will start laying eggs

Hi Around the same as most hens 18/22 weeks. We have kept some for a few years and have a couple of eggs in the incubator now. Mine have been inconsistent layers sometimes only every second day, but I am only on a lifestyle block and not really full of knowledge on them.
Good Luck

It may still be too early to tell with these three chicks, they are ten weeks old and I am starting to think that they are all cockerels :( Blue, black and partridge ( I am not sure if that is the correct term for this colouring as there are blue feathers coming in)
I've looked and looked, the black one does seem to have a slight sickle starting in the tail, both the black and the partridge have redder combs. I think they'll be roos.

I agree with you. They are much more difficult to judge than my Marans. I don't know how long it will be before the Araucanas start getting their proper male plumage but I wish that they would hurry up.

Hi everyone!

I bought a Blue Ameraucana chick from a man that has a poultry farm. He also sells Easter Egger's but they are in a separate pen.
Anywho, I few days ago.. I noticed my chick looked a little off.

This check is tailless/rumpless! I used my finger to poke above it's fecal opening and notice that the area is bare, meaning there is no bone there. There's just a hole where it's tail is supposed to be. It also doesn't have beard.. what does this mean?! Could it be that's it's actually an Araucana or definitely had an Araucana bred in somewhere down the line?

Pretty bird.
I did some research on this since I have a rumpless Marans hen. Apparently birds without any Araucana in their histories can be rumpless, but it is very rare. It is a genetic mutation that is more common in some breeds than others. Resulting birds often have fertility problems. My hen in particular has never laid a fertile egg although she has always been the favorite of my roosters.

I hope your baby grows up to lay beautiful blue eggs!
