ewh roosters are thought to have white underfluff, not at the base of the tail, check at the breast, however this flies in the face of the standard which says that they are supposed to have black fluff tinged with reddish bay. E+ based birds are light slate to slate underfluf I believe. So if the standard is to be believed, that would be one way of telling the wheaten apart from the wild type.
