are bantam cochins a healthy breed?

Oh, alright thank you! I have my runs completely covered. That still doesn't keep the rain from running in though. Unfortunately, the ground does get damp.

Would sand be a good choice to put in the run?
 
Ive seen several old time cochin breeders show me their own "technique" for AI. A very, simple easy process but not a process I choose to do.....haha

Raised several varieties thru the years and they were a very healthy breed. But like Mr. Horstman said, they do need to be kept dry or they become a big mess in a hurry.

I had to trim the nails on mine, they were never able to keep them down to a reasonable length. Other then that they were very easy to care for and healthy.
 
That was a sand/caliche/shavings mixture.....or as we like to call it...dirt haha. You are correct about the nails, cochins do seem to need a little attention when it comes to their nails.
