Are chickens pets or livestock??? The Great Debate!

I always think of Mike in "Monsters Inc" saying, "Once you name them, you get attached to them!" Ours are pets. I've named them, hand-fed, held, petted, buried and mourned them. And though I still go jonesing for some KFC on occasion, I would never eat mine. But... I have no issue with what other people do with theirs, provided they treat them well while they live.

Our "Girls" are family to us

They even contribute to the family budget

I'd keep them in the house if I could potty train them

... they are definitely NOT livestock and won't end up on our dinner table
