I wouldn't bother with hatching eggs they're a gamble at the best of times and you're lucky if you get a 30% or higher hatch rate.

But you'd end up losing more money than if you'd just bit the bullet and bought juveniles. Needless to say peachicks are also much more delicate than other types of poultry so even after hatching you're looking at a 5-10% loss of hatched chicks.

What is an affordable option for obtaining peafowl(off topic)? I looked at online hatcheries and find 50+/per a bit much too high for my tastes.

I have a friend that sells ~2 week old chicks (India Blue) for $45/chick. She makes sure they are eating and drinking well before selling. Give me a PM if your interested in making a trip up this way!

Yes, peafowl are louder but the incessant yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yapping makes me want to grab my shotgun in the early spring when they hang around the pens and not out there free-ranging.

BTW, we at Spring Creek Peafowl do not sell eggs. It is a disservice to the customer and promotes bad publicity with the public. Beware of people that do sell eggs over the internet, there are way too many scams out there involving eggs.

Yes, peafowl are loud but in my opinion not as irritating as the guineas. Twice I have had guineas and both times ending up finding them another home. Some I raised from keets (chicks) and the next group were adult rescues...and I loved them all...but they drove everyone crazy. Cute and funny as they were to watch, they were incessantly loud and obnoxious. I've learned my lesson.
