ah thanks for replys!!!! ive just spoke to the petshop and spoke to the husband of the woman who sold them and he was actually very helpful and said he would try to get hold of the supplier so we can swap them for 2 females. he did say they wouldnt of sold them knowing they were roosters but obviously thats not true...they have been selling chickings for years and if i knew it 10 mins of searching the internet then that woman definatly knew!!!! well its a lesson learnt for me anyway!!!!!! my silkies are ready in 2 wks so will prob wait abit longer before i get them so i know wot they are. any advice on how to tell what sex the silkies are??? thank you x

silkies are the hardest to sex. What people say is go by the comb and size of wattles but even then it could be wrong. People also say look for streamers long strands coming from back of crest. Also people say males crest sweep back where females have a nice pom pom crest,this one can't be too good cause i have a rooster that has a nice pom pom crest like a hens the only thing that sets him apart is the streamers and huge comb and wattles. I say best to wait to see if it lays or crows.

I got 2 hens from a 'friend' and they said they were throwing in some babies because 1 of the hens I got was raising a whole batch.... knowing I wanted hens I am pretty darn sure they sent me 4 males..... and of course I am pretty darn sure they knew it too!
