I have four barred pullets, and I'd like to know if they're rocks or something else. We have one barred rock that came from a different hatchery, and she's darker than these. I wonder if these might be dominiques. How can I tell the difference? We got our first egg from them today!

Pretty girls! I got some like that. Got a roo, too! I think they are dominis.........

In the pictures the girls look a little darker than they really are, because I took the pictures as it was starting to get dark. Their coloring is basically the same as Harvey.

Do dominiques have a different comb? Mine all have a standard single comb.

You have barred rocks. A true Dominique has a rose comb, also they have a different barring pattern. Not really sure how to describe it, but a true Dominique looks different than a barred rock.

There hatchery type Barred Rock with very coarse barring.
The barring on a true Barred Rock would be very clean.

The American Dominique would have a Rose Comb and should have a Gamey look.
