Different goats require different sizes of land. 2 Nubian weathers were way to much for my 1 acre. They were a lot of fun, sweet and lovable boys! :love Nigerians might have been better, but we are past that adventure for now. It's great to be aware of your desires but also the animals needs. :thumbsup

The law actually give me the right. :old

I think a chicken would say "bawk"! ;)

My options are none of your business, but thanks for your concern. I truly believe it's awesome that you wanna protect the animals. :highfive:

Sorry, I believe in creation and don't think a fish walked out of the sea. We process plenty of RAW meat. Just 2 days ago we spent $100 for my family to eat sushi/sashimi and whatever else they were served. (Sorry Athena, I know your family is struggling and YES I've been there, PM me for support) What do you think rare steaks are.. raw, just warm. So ya, it's not about more affordable options for me. I ate an Oregon Kobe Beef burger, medium rare for $12. We aren't set by any means, but we don't go hungry or think twice about what we spend on food. It is part of our life.

Like so many things in chicken keeping, what works for some will not work for others. Even though I've seen myself trend more towards vegetarian than not, wishful of vegan but more realistically human, I hope I can remember my roots and not get all snobby and hateful towards others who don't do as I say.

One final point... don't think I haven't had a chicken drink my blood or think about pecking me to death (even try, just let them see an open wound) and then cannibalizing me with all their buddies I've been feeding and caring for, for years. :smack

OK, no more blah blah stuff from me... Can't we all just be friends?:pop
well then i'm sure the creator of the universe totally backs up your enlightened opinions. not sure what you can say to anybody who thinks like that. my rooster definitely wouldn't attack an open wound but i wouldn't be surprised if you hold those sorts of views about them

Don't feed the trolls. ;)

I don't have goats yet, but I'm getting them to clear brush on my property. I have big problems with an invasive tree/bushy thing that they happen to love-love-love. I'm a tad worried about poisoning from other things, but there's really not much on my land that is on the list of goat toxins. :fl
i hope if you do get goats they live a great life and dont eat poison ( even if they want to)

Me too. They'll probably want to go run gorge on Milkweed and acorns the first chance they get, knowing goats' propensity for trouble.

Best stock up on bloat treatment before hand.

I worried about poisonous things to, there are so many. You'd be surprised at just how picky a goat can be. Don't tie them up to an Oleander. :old There lips are so nimble and cute like camel lips and kissable, huggable... too bad they learned how to defeat my fence and came to the back door to try and move in with me. :barnie

Oh God were they ever loud. If you haven't seen this video, it's a MUST! And it's real!!!!

I have not eaten goat but my son did as they served it at a place in LA. Many people in my area do eat goat, rabbit, quail, and many other things, Wish i was more adventurous. But I am already such a glutton I dare not start liking other things.

Anyways, my main food group is peanut M&M's.

i have never tried goat rabbit or quail and i do not plan to because with foods i either really like it or i feel like im gonna vomit

there like stronger cats if you tell them not to do something the will want to do it even more
Best analogy yet!

Yeah, goats make lovely foghorns, huh? Especially when you walk into the barn with grain.

Friend of mine raises a few dozen kids a year for resale, along with a dairy goat or two .. gets pretty noisy at feeding time. Sounds like they're screaming 'MOM'.
