Are regular sunflower seeds ok??

Hmmm, my BOSS plants are about 3 feet tall and many have multiple heads.

My BOSS get 5-8'. I suspect we get a lot more sun than you do though.

I guess its form might be influenced by your location.

Sun and soil.
My sunflower bed is a new bed and the soil is not amended correctly yet. I went and looked after posting, some on richer soil are pushing 5 feet not 3 out of the 25 or so plants only a couple have multiple heads.

I wonder if there are different varieties of sunflowers sold as "Black Oil Sunflower Seeds". That would explain some with a single head and some with multiple heads.
