Are there any super common breeds of duck that you can tell their gender by sight right away? (Like within four days of them being hatched)

The title says it all. By super common I mean like kinds you can find at tractor supply. I want to make sure I get three ducks and no drakes. It’s almost $100 to ship three ducks to where I live and I’m just not sure that’s in my budget. If there aren’t, I will wait until some of my friends hatch their duck eggs and vent sex them. Thank you!

Welsh harlequin from many lines can be sexed at hatch. With about an 80% or so ratio of success, some breeding lines are better than others at it.

the ones I have actually hold their bill color (this is how you would tell sex) just about a whole week before the color changes.

Hmm I have WH mixes in the brooder. Can I tell? How?

I think vent sexing is best and more accurate. You still have the chance of sexing wrong, but I always vent sex at a day old then at two days old to make sure.

There are ways to breed for sexable by sight, but you have to do a lot to get there.

And usually my TSC has Pekin ducklings. They're not sexable by sight.

i am still trying to learn how to vent sex. As my black East Indie don’t have the nifty trick of the bill.
But like i said not all lines are strong with that sexing by Bill color. I did have one duckling that was a 50/50 bill color and couldn’t guess the sex until he was older.

Sadly doesn’t work with mixes to my knowledge. If they are pure welsh the girls would have had a dark bean and light colored bill at hatch, and males have an all dark Bill and bean.

@Pyxis might correct me if I am wrong on sexing mixes of this breed, but I am pretty sure on it.
they are interesting. The color looks reverted to mallard.
