Are there particular places where ducks like to be petted?

Opie likes to have me rub him between his eyes on that patch of skin right above where his carnicles are developing. While he is laying on his back in my lap

Puts him right to sleep.

my girl will fall asleep in my lap when i rub the back of her neck. i have a video of it i should post on youtube soon lol. i just rub her neck feathers up to along her head and she loves it!

How interesting! I guess I got unlucky that event though they are totally tame, they just don't really enjoy being petted. Maybe it's the drake bachelor thing? I love the replies, and I can't believe some of you can get them on their back without them totally freaking out!

Three drakes and three hens....no where! Don't touch us you big, bad, ugly human (who feeds us twice a day, cleans up our mess, brings us wonderful treats, talks to us, and obviously is trying to mortally harm us no matter what she does)! They have been handled gently an couple of times a day since we brought them home in March...but it's a no-go.

Classic case of, let me NOT be the person my ducks think I am!

Our Pekins enjoy having their bellies rubbed! This is how we do it. We will pick up a duck & pet it & whenever we go to sit it back down we squat down & lower the duck to the ground, but we don't let the duck go. We immediatley start rubbing the duck belly. Sometimes they stay for 30 sec. or a minute before they waddle off & sometimes during the belly rub the duck will stand tall with it's back against you & get all long & buff up the feathers. Daffy is our exception!! He will let you carry him around & rub his belly & call him "KITTY" thanks to our son

Under the lower mandible is where one of my ducks especially likes a rub. He will close his eyes and stand there letting us touch him there for as long as we can stand. Stevie- Ray my blind duck is ultra affectionate and just loves to be petted anywhere. She is such a sweetie and adores all the attention she can get.

I have 2 female Pekin ducks who just turned one month old and I found the sweet spot last night, I rub with one finger on each side the sides of the head and go around under the bill and just like you said ybours does she closes her eyes and will then put her head down and fall asleep, it's the cutest thing ever, my daughter says they like that spot cause they can't reach it themselves with no hands...lol
