I have a young Maran rooster who about a month ago one day started limping on one of his feet. At first, we thought it was a minor injury, but by the next day, he couldn't walk at all. We checked his legs all the way up and down multiple times. There isn't a thing wrong with him. He checked his pelvis too to make sure it wasn't a hip problem. There is no sign of injury on him. He started just scooting around on his knees or hocks. He has started to kinda walk a little, but he usually has his knees turned inward toward each other and he doesn't put weight on one leg. He's been like this for a month or more.
Now just today one of our Bared rock dominant Maran hens who is in the same coop with him started limping on one or her feet. Within a matter of hours, she was unable to stand and now she is also scooting around on her hocks. They are both acting exactly the same. They use their wings for support and almost like they are unbalanced. They both have absolutely no sign of muscular, bone, or any other sort of injury. There are no cuts, no swelling, nothing is out of place on them. I have been trying to do some research on it, and I was thinking a vitamin deficiency. My mother believes that the hen has egg block but she shows no symptoms of egg block except we can feel an egg that my mother believes is stuck closer to her pelvis.
Does anyone know what this could be?
