Are these emu eggs fertile? Hatchalong

I don’t think the universe wants me to have blonde or white emus. The eBay offer wasn’t accepted, so I decided to just do the buy now option… well I chose the wrong payment info (account that wasn’t supposed to have money come out) and had to message the seller to cancel the order so I could redo it. Now the seller won’t respond or resend the order.

Universe slapped me on the hand!

oh that stinks! I made an offer for some BBS cochin eggs today ($5.50 under their price so not huge). well they accepted it but then sent an invoice with shipping $6.30 higher!!!!!! I cancelled it, then sent another offer and in the notes I explained that I expected shipping to be the same and not go up. My offer was for that price plus the stated shipping cost. Thankfully they still accepted and now I am just waiting for them to ship and hope I get them SAT (said Sat-Tue) so I can let them sit and get them cooking. LOL

See… the universe wanted you to have BBS Cochin eggs lol

The total was $459. You’d think they’d jump on sending the listing again!

I mustn’t google them. Don’t look on eBay. Don’t do it. DON’T look.

Crap. 😳 I looked. Sooo adorable and beautiful 🤩! OMG what if they came with a frizzle hairdo or something?!?! I would have to move to Mars or take special meds or SOMETHING. Do you need more money to buy these eggs? I think I can sneak it past my husband…
The crummy part is season is pretty much done for most emus. A few stragglers are laying and people are listing them on eBay. Willy stopped laying 2 weeks ago or so. So blonde or white emus are out of the picture until next season.

I’ll move the issue over here. Don’t want to clog the Easter Hatchalong with emu leg issues. Two more hatched yesterday. One had to be assisted. I was so nervous with the huge blood vessels!

I would say this chick was not in a position to hatch on its own. I could hear it calling for almost two days, then I intervened. After opening the shell a bit I could tell it was fully formed, but could possibly still be absorbing yolk. It wasnt yawning or chewing though, so I opened part of the membrane the didn’t have a large amount of blood vessels. I then let it sit in the incubator for another day to let it dry up the blood supply in the membrane. Finally bit the bullet and pulled it out last night.

After pulling it out if the shell and membrane, I noticed it’s right leg pointing inward. Thought nothing of it and left it at the bottom of the incubator. I pulled both chicks out to bond with them and hold them for a bit, that’s when I noticed something definitely wasn’t right. It’s taped up with a section of an ink pen in the middle to keep the legs apart evenly, but it’s not working too well.

Ideas? I’m currently just holding its legs in my shirt in a proper position. The splint doesn’t seem to be working too well.

Is it at the knee like l ( or I / ?

It’s weird. One of the legs goes straight forward a bit (tendons at the joint are in their proper spot) and the other leg is pointed in towards the center. Hoping it works itself out! I may have a bum leg emu as a pet.

Other half may be upset at me towards the end of next week… apparently I had the winning bid on two possible blonde or white hatching eggs 😳 forgot I bid on the other two! And couldn’t figure out why I had an email saying I won something 🤣
