Are these emu eggs fertile? Hatchalong

Pics
Yes. Thank goodness I did. They scanned it and were sorting it, had not made it on the truck yet. Just went to pick them up.

Sometimes they’re nice out here, sometimes they’re brutal. We have a gate and they will politely set packages down, toss them on the other side or launch them over the gate. Really depends on the driver lol

Yes this cargo is buckled in!

Ok I totally see why you would be worried about them delivering then, lol. Fingers crossed for a great hatch!

More baby dinos! :ya

:pop <-- 56 days of popcorn
That’s a lot of popcorn! You’ll only need 52 days worth, they've been hatching at 52 days or earlier.

Do they need to settle for 24 hours like chicken/duck eggs? I hope everything goes well!!! Fingers crossed for more dinosaurs! 😁
I’m sure they should. But I’ve never done that with any shipped eggs

But I do let them get to room temp, then let them sit in the incubator without turning for a while.

Same! I don't rest my shipped eggs for very long either. 8 hours max usually. I put mine directly into the turner as well because I find turning the eggs is more important. I don't feel that whatever damage happens from shipping can be changed by resting. (I do incubate vertically if the air cell is completely detached though) It's not a popular opinion but I've had really great hatches with shipped eggs with that mindset, lol. I couldn't find any genuine studies showing the benefits of resting jostled eggs but there numerous studies on the importance of turning and freshness. So I just go with it since it seems to work!:idunno

I do agree and that’s the way I’ve handled all of my shipped eggs. The way I look at it is… the eggs arrived at the post office around 6am, I pick them up around noon, then put them in the incubator later that evening. That’s around 12 hours of sitting. Plenty in my mind! Get those babies in the incubator!

With emu eggs, you can’t see squat for air cells. So it’s a gamble no matter what with them. There’s no correcting a problem if there is one.
