The stock market always takes a hit the day after election day. In 2008 it lost over 5%. It would have happened no matter who won. Even Ron Paul, rebel.

I can agree to that. Livestock don't pay attention to things like politics and daylights savings time. If I had more land I would buy a few cows. If I had more money I'd buy the neighbor's property that is for sale... the old lady just went to a home and she even has a pasture where she raised her cows. But I'm broke. Oh well.

since gas and energy prices will begin to rise and the value of the dollar will go down as it did today, livestock will be whats for dinner. better plant a good garden and can freeze and dry all that you can

I'd absolutely love to have a couple of cows & pigs each year...maybe even a yak or two. Alas, though, my husband would not want to eat them once they were slaughtered. But that's another thread!

Yeah? Come on up here and take a look around. Stay awhile in a grocery store and see how many LINK (food stamp) cards come out and how much public housing is used.

Well, there are certain things I know I have no control over. Gas prices are controlled by a global market, food prices are controlled by this miserable drought, and ya can't stop natural disasters. I will say, that in the last four years, I've gained a job, a reasonable place to live, the small business I work for has doubled its size and I've gotten some help with my school loans. Things are tight, but they'd be a lot more tight without a job, I know that. I hate to say it, but we discussed this a lot in school: Most of the reason that grads are underemployed (or unemployed) is because the baby-boomers are staying in the workforce a lot longer than any other generation. Some are trying to build retirement back up, and some just can't stand to stay home. I think as long as that's the case, you won't make room for any new folks to enter the workforce. I guess that's something else we don't have much control over.
