Unfortunately my meds can only be kept for a short time before they expire. I don't think there are any natural ways to manage diabetes (insulin dependent anyways), but people do live for quite awhile without insulin. It's just a very uncomfortable existence. Worse comes to worse, I figure I'll have a degree in Biology with research experience. I'd find a few pigs myself and experiment to find some insulin! (Actually, laboratory synthesis of human insulin is a very easy procedure. You just need to introduce the gene for producing insulin into a bacteria genome and they will begin to produce it)
my dh is insulin dependant as well.
Insulin does have a good shelf life if kept cold.
One can reduce the amount needed, by eating a good amount of Cinnimon with each meal.
We have experimented with it, when he has run out and the pharmecies are closed.
In Canada, they have been able to cure Tye 1 by the use of Capsicum injected to the pancreas.
They have figured out why it shuts down, and how to shock it back into working again.
Are you talking about cinnamon from a health food store or what you buy at the grocery store? I would love to try that with my DH and see if it helps him. . .he controls it pretty well with long and short acting insulin, but to have something to fall back on if something would happen, would be just short of a miracle.
