are your dogs and chicken friends

Hi, I have 2 rat terriers, the female is an old killer of everything , the male has never killed anything but I
don't trust him...My male dog keeps putting his nose in the fencing and my buff orpington has nip him 3 times,
I'm wondering how many times it will take before he stops being nosie...

I luv my Ratties, My girl is so curious she keeps sticking her nose at the chickens, she just want to be friends and they nail her every time! My boy just looks and says those are daddies. Mine are both hunters and killers )and show dogs). I spotted a rabbit in the run (steeling chicken food) The ratties and I went out and they caught it pulled it in half with the girls watching, happy dogs that day! The chickens have learned that the dogs protect them and are no longer afraid of them at all. I trust my dogs completely and have left them in the run for hours unattended.

My dog Sadie is half blue heeler and half border collie.... she will stand out side the run while I'm in there ad whine at the girls. They look at her like she is going to eat them.... I just don't trust Sadie around the chickens yet. She caught a wild turkey about two months ago... if it wouldn't have gotten away, she would have killed it. I don't want to take any chances with the chickens.

No problems trusting our dog here

Haven't seen any Chowchow's mentioned here yet. Marmite is really good with the chickens . She has however snapped at the hen that tried to take her bone out of her mouth. This hen just loves dog food and Marmite usually tolerates the stealing of her pellets but not her bones. Luckily it was a miss and as there was no aggression I am not too worried.

Yeah, it's the same thing with my black lab. Gypsy is usually great with chickens, but when there's a bone involved, the birds had better keep their distance.

See I have the opposite problem one of my chickens attacks my cocker spaniel if he gets too close to their treats. I gave them some eggs yesterday and Logan always follows me out to the chickens and I put the egg down and turned around to go back inside and next thing I know Logan screamed and my blue silkie was attacking Logan's face. I'm pretty sure Logan won't try to eat their eggs again lol
Yet they don't care if my other 2 dogs steal their treats.. Go figure

I have a 12-year old German Shepherd who will chase anything that moves. He goes berserk at the summer sheep through the fence. A few times over the years he's gotten into them, never killed or injured any, but it about gives me a heart attack. When I got chickens last year, I had to put him on a rope or keep him in the house. A few times we went outside and there was an escaped chicken walking around. He ran over to it, it looked at him and kept walking, and he decided chickens weren't fun because they wouldn't run from him. Slowly over the last year, he became oblivious to them. I can throw his ball right through them and he goes for his ball and ignores them. Occasionally he hops toward one to scare her, and she flies a few feet away. He looks at me with a big smile that says, "that's fun." I still can't believe he just ignores them. He's in and out of the pen with them and drinks out of their water. I think he was afraid of them at first because they would come so close to him when he's lying on the grass, and he wasn't sure if they would attack him.

I have Chinese Cresteds.... And they aren't big fans of my chickens right now.... They want to chase them and I am sure catch them. So I keep them separated.
But... My cats are no problem at all! I was worried when I first started letting them out to free range. The cats watch them, but if one of the chickens gets too close.... They run from them. It's funny to watch! Chickens chasing cats....
