Arizona Chickens

Like I said, messy: they kick them out.

Thanks. I can deal with the mess, but I was also worried about crop impaction if they decided to eat them. I may give them a try.

I hear peafowl will eat fire ants - if that's true, I'd like to rent a couple of peafowl, please.

I would give the chicks back to the owner. The DH says NO PEACOCKS. I guess the BIL's grandma has a huge aviary in Hereford, and they are NOOOISY. But the lady who has them here is 3 houses away, and I have never heard them. Ever.

He said "No Peacocks", but did he say anything about Peahens and Peachicks? (Just trying to be an enabler, not an English teacher.)

Hmmmm - for us it's little inchworms (centimeter worms?) that grow into little moths, and really love the wheat bran we use for mealworm bedding. They don't seem to need oxygen, either - last fall I sealed 10# of bran in one of those huge Ziploc bags intended for clothing, and now there are moths aplenty.

You could try switching to slices of carrots or potatoes for moisture. Less sugar = less fruit flies.

I have a laying hen available if Tucson isn't too far. She is a Black Australorp mix. Nice, but can be loud. As long as you are in a more rural area it would work. She might upset the neighbors if you are in a very urban setting. PM me if you are interested.

I am in housing community so they might not like to much noise will have to see how it goes. Although there dogs are probably more noise than my chickens will be.

I'm in Gilbert

I have 4 laying hens (2 anconas, 2 delaware, hatchery stock) and one minorca rooster that I am thinking about selling. They started laying about 3 weeks ago. I have too many eggs
