Great! Thank you!
I will give this a try!

Stuff I found with google seemed complicated with soak/rinse, careful water doesn't sour and such... yeesh! lol...

I'm just a few minutes from a place called "new life" that sells all sorts of grains, and herbs. I will check there for what you have suggested. Mom gets flax seed there for dad and I tease she can get it cheaper at the pet shop as bird seed.

Here's an article I found on sprouting seeds for parrots. Don't forget about online spice stores as a very cheap source of sprouting seeds.

Here's a great article on feeding parrots sprouts. If any worries about sprouts spoiling, you can use a little grapefruit extract. Just mix a tablespoon in with a gallon of water. I believe you can buy it at Sprouts.

I used to sprout all my bird seed too. But got out of the habit when the sprout trays gave up the ghost. lol.

Our parakeet has been in her nest all morning re arranging the nesting material!

Of course, all of this is moot as there is no way my sweet little boy is actually a roo....he can't be. No No No.

Oops - I was thinking Swazie (SP?) was in Flashdance. It was a long time ago and I've slept since then...

So sprouts for the peepers is OK??? As long as they get additional grit? Or is the grit in the starter enough to digest the addtional greens?

Crapula!

I'm almost scared to give them anything but starter now...

Sounds easy enough (for hubby anyway)

Hey...do you think a mini-fridge (that doesn't work so well) would work for an incubator? Same basic concept as the wine cooler right?

From an engineering point of view it would work. You'd prolly want a window in the front, You could use heat tape inside and a fan to keep a consistant temp.

You'll do fine!
Sprouts and little bits of green are what they would find if born in a free range situation.

I don't know about the grit, I only have quail at the moment. They are getting grit from their sand bath and crushed oyster shell.

I moved them to a bigger cage last night. I can't believe how they've grown!

My chickie eggs are due to ship today or tomorrow!

I saw quite a few cheap wine coolers on craigslist. Can't believe I actually started looking at them.

I have just enough room for the 8 that I have and certainly don't need more.
