Here ya go tball.
Here's the post on sprouting seeds .

Now that I found it, I need to print. lol...

Thanks much! Now I have to find a store that has the seeds down here in No-Mans-Land. I am trying to get set up to hatch some chicks out, so I need to figure all this out. Thanks for your help Critter & Tracydr

Tracy suggested online spice stores, or maybe google sprouting seeds, ( I haven't had a chance to yet) they also make nice sprouters which is on my wish list. lol...
Health food stores, not like GNC, ones like New life that sell teas and such in bulk.

Also pet shops and feed stores, even a simple parakeet or finch mix is great to sprout, and millet sprays. Just make sure it's pure and no vitamins added!

Awesome - thanks!

Mung beans, wheat berries and fenugreek seem to be the chick favorite around here, especially the fenugreek. I bought the fenugreek at a spice store online, two pounds was really cheap. It's used as a spice in Indian food and also to make fake maple syrup. Smells like maple, tastes a little bit bitter.

Awesome - I can handle that BUT...from a non-engineering standpoint - what is heat tape?

Heat tape is like a tiny heating pad, commonly used for reptiles. Here's a link to some I was looking into for chicks and my geckos.

OK...just different names for the sames things. I use one of those "under-tank heatpads" for my snakes. Thanks for the idea

"I didn't fridge tke Kefir - can I still strain it (It's a week old now) and restart it?"
I don't know, I'm new to kefir. I would strain the grains out and make a new batch. I'm guessing the grains are still alive but not sure. Maybe Meg or Becky will know?

As long as it doesn't smell bad the grains should be OK. Strain and rinse with milk. Also, I would use the week-old stuff for baking and start over with kefir.
I leave mine on the counter until kind of solid then strain and refrigerate.
If I need to store the grains I put them in milk in the fridge.

I was thinking the same thing.

Tracy, when you reply inside the "quotes" we can't easily see what you've replied. It takes awhile to find it. I'm sure I've missed some.
I don't want to miss anything you have to say! Can you bold your replies if you reply inside? Please?

I can get Oregon Spice fenugreek ($3.60 lb) from AzureStandard but it's not organic. Think that's a big deal? I've not sprouted before so not sure if that was important. I do have wheat berries that I could try.

I just get mine from the bulk bins at Sprouts orWholeFoods.
