Make sure you pack a lunch.

Yeah, I am considering aquaponics. Only on a small scale to start with. My tote cost $75 off of craiglist. The guy really didn't know anything about it, so I doubt it is food grade, but it previously contained a non-toxic glue used in "green" building applications, so I feel ok with it being a rain barrel. Not sure I would put fish in it though.

I just had 2.5 cubic yards of manure delivered yesterday. It is sitting in a heap on the side of my house, and I am trying very hard to ignore it.

Way the heck up is about 5 minutes from my house!

Did you notice that the newbie you told us about a couple of days ago has an aquaponics system? Have you already hit her up for info? The Petsmart way the heck up by the NW Costco (right near the Sunflower) is closing down and getting rid of all their old tanks. Hmmm...

Really...that Petsmart is closing? Wow...never woulda thunk it

I worked there as a college side job...long, long ago.

Tracy suggested online spice stores, or maybe google sprouting seeds, ( I haven't had a chance to yet) they also make nice sprouters which is on my wish list. lol...
Health food stores, not like GNC, ones like New life that sell teas and such in bulk.

Also pet shops and feed stores, even a simple parakeet or finch mix is great to sprout, and millet sprays. Just make sure it's pure and no vitamins added!

I just get mine from the bulk bins at Sprouts orWholeFoods.

There is a spicve store at Tempe Marketplace. I've never been in, so not sure on prices, but they have been marketing big time, and I've actually been to the shopping center a few times now that ds is at ASU and it's an easy stop by on the way home.

Are you mocking me? You bet I'll pack a lunch! Or at least second breakfast. Hey, that's a long ways away, a guy could get lost wandering that far from home. I do have my directions all written out and I'll have maps in hand, just in case. I might even pin a note to my shirt with my name and address.

Delivered horse manure?

It's the best kind.

We should be aquaponics buddies! Did you see any food grade IBC's on CL? Do you have a line on fish, duckweed or hydroton?

tball chicky - The store closed only because it moved 3 blocks away.

Gallo - Sure, I'll be your aquaponics buddy! I don't have a line on any supplies yet, I am still in the planning and researching phase. The IBC's are great, but too deep for where I want it too go. If I see another one I'll let you know. I need to find something longer and narrower so it will fit tighter up against a wall. And I was only mocking you just a little bit.

sheeesh, now im going to have to add aquaponics to my dream farm! maybe it will come with a bg pond and i can just tck it with bass. Fishing on your own pond is so fun. I had a pond on both my properties in OK. The one in NE OK and the one by Ft. Sill, OK. The one in the NE had huge bass, I caught a 5 lb bass once. I was guaranteed to catch dinner if I went fishing in that pond. I would really give at least one of my digits if not a limb to get that farm back. It was so beautiful, surrounded by woods on all four sides and 80 acres of the prettiest grass you ever saw. So much wildlife. Turkeys, deer. The topsoil looked like compost and I could get anything to grow. I had apple and peach trees. Even a wild persimmons tree. Ok, now I'm seriously homesick for that place.

I think I dreamed about your farm last night. Woke up jealous and a little disoriented about where I was. And I missed the kittens I had been playing with.
