Arizona Chickens

Yes, you have a Sprouts on the NW side of town on Oracle, just past Magee I believe. You also have a Whole Foods at the corner of Oracle & Ina, as well as on Speedway...around Columbus maybe? You can probably also find these items at Sunflower Market - which there are, I believe, 2 of in Tucson - I don't recall the exact location.

I've been thinking about making sprouts too! For all of you sprouters, what should I try first and what should I do with them? I really like radish sprouts on sandwiches, but I haven't seen any bulk seeds locally. Would celery seed sprouts be good?

We have four Sunflower Markets here in Tucson: Speedway & Swan, Broadway & Pantano, First Ave., just south of Wetmore and one way the heck up on the NW side. We've been shopping a lot at them lately for produce.

Way the heck up is about 5 minutes from my house!

Did you notice that the newbie you told us about a couple of days ago has an aquaponics system? Have you already hit her up for info? The Petsmart way the heck up by the NW Costco (right near the Sunflower) is closing down and getting rid of all their old tanks. Hmmm...

You might as well live on the other side of the planet.

I'm actually heading up that direction tomorrow (just north of Tangerine and La Cholla) to pick up a truck load of horse manure. It's 20 miles from my house and at least a 45 min. drive each way.

Yeah, I saw that they were doing aquaponics! Have you considered it too? How much did your IBC totes cost? Were they food grade? A few months back (well, maybe a year now) I was communicating with a number of people here in Tucson and Phoenix and I found someone raising tilapia here in town and they were selling smaller fingerlings for a very decent price. Since then it seems that IBC aquaponics systems have gotten wildly popular. Check out this video:
I hope it will be my next big project.
