My Ameraucanas JUST started laying FINALLY (2 weeks ago) when they were 32 weeks! UGH...talk about waiting...I was going crazy. I was convinced that at least one of them was a closet roo.

But now I have one laying beautiful blue eggs & one laying blue-ish with a tint of green eggs. Now I can relax

My Ameraucana is 26 weeks and still not laying ... now I feel hopeful that she will someday! My other hens were all laying by 22 to 24 weeks old.

Are they squatting when you pet them yet?

Are the combs and wattles bright red and seemingly growing overnight?

Sometimes it takes longer than we like but they will get with it soon I think, especially if above questions answered with yes.

The combs and wattles are bright red sometimes. 3 are Ameraucanas and don't have much of a comb to speak of. But their faces turn bright red, almost like they are bleeding. My Marans get red, too, but nada, zip, ziltch, nothing! They didn't look so red today. Is it normal for the redness to come and go like that? I haven't noticed squatting when I pet them, they mostly try to run away. I think they're scared I'll hand them over to the kids!

It is normal for the redness to come and go. When mine started laying, they were restless, and trying to get up on stuff for a few days before they started laying eggs. A few laid eggs on the poop board or on the floor for the first week or so (even with a plastic egg in each nest box), but they figured it out pretty fast.

Are they getting more red when you ask them about where the heck the eggs are?

If it's a serama, it's pretty likely!

Nope, it's my Ameraucana that lays the blue egg. She gets all weird when she lays...found a hiding spot (she found a way into the shed) and lays her egg in there & then stays in there with the egg for a few hours & then heads back out to the run. She's the only one that does that & I found it to be strange.

The Seramas that I got from memphis, kept laying for almost 2 weeks & they haven't laid an egg in probably 5 or 6 days now. They are in good health...but I wonder if maybe it's because of the feed change.
