Arizona Chickens

My 2 layers give me 6-7 eggs a week.

No kidding. I had to suffer the ignominy of buying eggs at the grocery store last weekend.

Me too! I had to fight the urge to explain to the cashier that I have very spoiled chickens at home, and that I don't normally buy eggs.

I used duck eggs from the neighbor. She doesnt eat eggs--nevermind her 40+ ducks and 40+ chickens.

There is a thread here on the forum where I stole the plans from. Except those unload in the back into another room. I had to have the collector in the front. And the novelty is the use of gutters from homer to make it lighter (and cheaper?).

Here is the link to the thread:

And I could make some notes (next weekend) about how I modified the plans. Actually I probably should anyway. Just in case I need to build another one.
Now Mikey is not going to like this but no welders were used in the process of making the nest boxes but I did take a hammer to the gutters because the breaks were in the wrong place

I started off teaching woodworking & my heart is still in the wood shop.

It's not all arcs & sparks for me!

Sorry guys that are hatching and didn't get any results. My very first hatch I drowned because they hygrometer was off. I did get one to hatch and my oldest was 18 months at the time and squished it to death when i went to move it to the brooder box!. I was so mad. Don't give up.
