How cool. What are you feeding those guys? Indoors or out?

Sitting down to a chicken caesar salad. I wish my garden was ready, although it should be producing soon. Salad has leftover chicken, home grown, fresh dressing made with eggs from the chickens and lemons from the garden. The dressing and chicken are so good! I just can't get over how much better this fall chicken is from the summer chicken. Much more tender.
Now I just need to get busy and do some processing.

We still have 2 that you relocated miles & miles & miles away. Walt says he is going to do the large one soon but still has to talk to the taxidermy dude before doing the rattler.

I got the low down from Bryan White from the permaculture org tonight. I took Tammy to see Mad City Chickens at the Filmbar in Phx & Bryan was promoting the tour so we picked his brain afterwards. The low down:

There are 21 coups on the tour.

They have sold 200 tickets in advance, are limiting it to 1000 tickes and anticipate running out before they run out of people. Get them in advance!

All of the coops are very centrally located in phoenix I cannot remember the streets but they're all pretty close together.

You can show up at any time between 7:30 and 4:30 but the earlier you show the more you'll see.

Hope to see ya'll there!

Step away from the silkies!

Tammy just found out (at the "Mad City Chickens movie it took her to tonight!) that I want to order another set o fluffy butts.

Eyebrows were raised!

Did she ever see Issa's photo (my avatar)? She WILL want silkies. If you want, you can tell her it s a rabbit or some other soft, fluffy creature that she will adore.

It's dang cold here, so mine are all sleeping now...since I keep them out in the barn. I think it's finally time to turn the heat on - it was 35 in my house yesterday morning @ 6:30.

I just posted about mine in the feeding section this morning. I had T. obscurus beetles invade my colonies and I think they really suppressed the T. molitor numbers. I ended up removing--by hand--all of the T. molitor, scrapping everything else remaining in the colonies, and starting over. The chickens really liked scratching through the remains of the colonies though, picking out all the T. obscurus. They got enjoyment out of that for at least a couple weeks. I sneaked the single reformed colony inside to the office, where it will remain, hidden, until Gallina del Cielo discovers it.
