Well...If it didn't get below 97 or above 103 they might survive. So 5 degrees max? 3 degrees would keep me (relatively) sane though.

So would not a house thermostat do the trick? They are usually good for a 4 degree range...

An old school one with a mercury tilt switch might be just the ticket!

As far as I know - plastic plants hold up really well!

Welcome DK!

Are you handy or do you need a finished coop?

And if you DO need a finished coop, might I suggest that you buy one that is at least your own height? As in Oh my aching back, I bought a 5 ft. tall coop...

Not sure that is fine enough. I started out in that direction and was deterred by complication. They ARE sending another thermostat, mine must have been a lemon. I will try TJ eggs again and see how it goes. I will be gone for the end of the Easter Hatch so I will just be experimenting again.

My OCD curiosity compels me to ask what was the complication?

Supply voltage?

Remember the net!

The A/C guy said thermostats for A/C units (like the ones on the wall of your hallway) are pretty general. I know that even the best ones in my last house weren't that accurate, and took rather a long time to kick off even if you turned the system off.

Well DW called me this late morning and gave me the bad news. We are down a chicken and the dog next door had an extra meal. Poor choice from the chicken. It is however a swift kick in the pants of a reminder of which chickens need to have their wings clipped. It was a younger Barnevelder and a pullet.

Guess there is no point in keeping the young roo around, anyone want a Barney about 23 weeks old?
