Arizona Chickens

Thank you so much, Selena.
Yes, Cuddles got along with all of my birds. It was great.
Sadly, she was, we think, recently killed by coyotes. She disappeared at the end of January and we suspect that was the case.
She almost always slept in with the birds or in the workshop. We just will never know for sure what happened that night.
I think that after losing two of my birds (first Stripes, to a wound, and now Flash), then Cuddles, is maybe why I'm taking all of this
sooooooooooooooooooo hard. I don't know.
Anyway, thank you again for the kind words.

Thank you, Gallo.

(BTW -- I am hitting 'reply' to the individual messages, but it seems to be placing all replies to the very end of the entire listing. )
Still new to this format. -- I am more used to Facebook, I guess.
Thanks for being patient w/me.
Cheers,

Thank you to EVERYONE who took the time to send kind words and hugs my way.
It has been a VERY rough 24 hours. I am trying to learn to NOT beat myself up, but do not have that skill yet.
I am glad everyone likes the avatar. Cuddles was such a great kitty!
I swear that she thought she was one of my hens.

Thank you again!!!!

Don't beat yourself up. When I first got my chicks my cat grabbed one out of my hand in two separate incidents. I was lucky to be quick because he would have eaten them too.

HI , So sorry to hear what happened. I get it. Please do not blame yourself. It sounds like you were trying to do something good for the chicks but unfortunatly accidents happen. Again
, sorry for your loss and hope you are feeling better soon.
Hi again fellow AZ chicken people
Well, today was a really, REALLY bad day here.
I was taking the new chicks outside into the garden area for some sunshine.
I set up their cage and (it's a long story) Flash, one of my girls, got into the main yard.
Our dog killed her. I am soooooooooooooooo upset. I have been crying nearly all day.
It is my fault that she got killed and I feel like CRAP. I thought I would share the
Reader's Digest version w/all of you here. I am guessing that you'd understand.

I think most people I know just don't "get" it.

Contemplating adopting a dog. Going to give it a trial run on how she acts towards our cats, chicks, poults, and ducklings. Crossing my fingers that she doesn't have high prey drive and tries to kill the chickens. Finding a dog who doesn't have the urge to kill chickens is so hard to find. I would really like to adopt this dog. We will see how it goes. Wish us luck!

GOOD LUCK !!

I think I am going to pass out and die. I am cleaning the coop super good and it is taking me alot longer to do than I had initially planned. maybe it was the 2 and 4 year old assistants that werent really assisting!!
