Arizona Chickens

I guess I was offering to hatch out whatever you wanted. You find the breed you want, bring some eggs over, and I will put them in the incubator. You'd have to pick up the chicks ASAP though, I ain't raisin' em until you can tell which are roos

Yep. What a find!! Very cool.

Laree, thanks for the offer, it is very kind! I won't have to take you up on it just yet though: I called around feed stores and Western Ranchman has silkies, hopefully they are still around when I go get them, and hopefully I don't get all roos

If I didn't have a 1pm meeting today I'd have gone and gotten them ASAP, but I guess it'll have to wait until after work.

Trying not to get impatient ... I'm too excited!

WANTED: HATCHING EGGS:
If you have hatching eggs that you would recommend I give to my broody hens this year, can you PM me on why yours would be great chickens to add to my flock? I have a high priority on good layers and good temperament. They don't have to be cuddly, just not too troublesome of a breed. Also, I prefer ones that are heavy enough that they won't fly up on my 6 foot fence, but could clip wings if needed. Fun colored eggs are of interest also. Let me know what you charge for fertile eggs also. I am thinking, maybe, if I feel really generous, and I am not sure I do, that I will let each of my 5 hens that I expect to go broody at least once each, try to hatch 2-3 eggs. I might also look at giving them some babies instead. If I go the baby route I, of course, want girls.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes last week. The chicks arrived safely. I ordered 30 and got 42 including a free BO and the free "rare" chick. They also added Red Star males as packing peanuts. I knew my brooder would need to be expanded eventually with 30, but now it will need to be expanded much sooner. I was a bit scared to tell my husband that i would need his help with this, but DH, the bargain lover that he is, is excited about free chickens, and knows where there is a pile of chicken wire he can get for free, so he is already working on the expansion.

Here are the new chicks:

One of 31 Buff Orpingtons:

A Red Star:

And the "mystery chick" I'm pretty sure its a male Dominique based on foot color and markings compared to the list of the hatchery's "rare" breeds:

We're very pleased with the chicks. No one could have prepared me for how fast they grow!

I will vouch for this.

We're definitely going... it's on our way home.

I wanted to do that workshop, but it's SOOOO far from home!!

Do you mean the butchering class?
I may go from Gilbert if you want to carpool?
