Arizona Chickens

Does anyone in the Tucson area have unwanted roosters? We are looking for afew to look after our hens. Needs don't matter, not for breeding, just protection. Age doesn't really matter either. I've been trying to find a few free ones on craigslist but it seems I've just missed the window on all of them!
So if you have an unwanted rooster or three you are just trying to get rid of PM me!

wow i love that skelter, have never seen anything like it before. i would love to have one also!! i might wait a little while tho to see if they get more colors like in the UK.

about marking eggs: i always fill egg cartons left to right, newest cartons on top shelf. we eat eggs from the carton on the lower shelf and rearrange as needed. its a minimal amount of work to make sure we eat the oldest ones first. nothing is ever older than a few weeks tho so i never get upset when someone grabs a brand new egg for breakfast.

i'll bet that granny's roost in casa grande would gladly give you some roos. she is around here somewhere............

speaking of roos..........i have some young Basque pairs available. They were hatched around the last two weeks of October. No one is crowing yet, I will sell them in pairs or if need be, can sell just a pullet if roos are a problem for you. Send me a PM please. And I do have a few silkies that I can part with, I can't keep them all

Ok, so far I am not to excited to incubate eggs.. To much work.. I am thinking on waiting fo a hen to go broody..
We only have about 7 eggs that I would like.. Our Mille Fleur, she is so beautiful...
I made fried eggs fom our other hen & did see the bullseye... On all of the eggs..
Still undecided ..

I got one for Christmas. Just LOVE it!!!!!
Hey everybody! Not to brag, but with all the eggs we are getting it is hard to remember which eggs are freshest. What does everyone do for keeping track of their eggs for consumption? I was thinking of getting a date stamp with food grade ink but that seems pricey. I found food grade markers for way less. http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/bold-tip-primary-food-markers-751503/
Well, lucky you. Glad everything is going well there! How many eggs are you talking? The idea I like the most, although I don't have one, yet, is the EggSkelter from Manna Pro. There have been some excellent reviews and I believe it was featured on the frontpage of BYC at one point. I think they look great and seem very functional, especially for your request. It claims to hold two dozen "standard" sized eggs. It was originally in the U.K., and if I recall correctly from when I was in London a decade ago, their regular eggs were closer to our extra large eggs. 'Course, they also don't refrigerate the eggs, either.
